So if you didn't know, we've made it to Utah! The weather was a little unkind at first, but the rain is slowly going away and we've been able to soak in some Utah sun! :) We got to enjoy about a week and a half of Hayden at home; pure heaven! Now he's helping out at his friend's landscaping business working 10-11 hour days 5 days a week and about 7 hrs on Saturdays. It is nice that when he gets home there is no studying :)
The girls are LOVING being around family! :) They want to see "the cousins" everyday and have been a daily request. And don't worry grandmas and grandpas are a huge attraction as well :)
We haven't figured out where we're living in August yet and have lots to do to get ready for the baby this fall, but for now we're just enjoying each other and this little ...BOY! :) Yup you heard right! The ultrasound went great and he is a healthy little boy :) I have to admit I'm a little nervous to try and figure out the boy scene, but I'm a lot excited for the adventure! :)

This and that and here and there
So if you haven't heard life is a bit in the air right now. Ok, I guess that's not totally true.. we have a plan, we actually have several :) But they can all change at the drop of a hat :)
Just over a week ago we were planning on loading up our stuff and heading to Utah for the summer and then skipping off to Miami for 4 - 7 years for school. Hayden got a great scholarship at the school there and we were very excited :) We'd be closer to the "South Carolina cousins," great beaches and saving money :) ....Enter California; Hayden interviewed a few weeks ago and last week was offered a great spot! It's in Pomona which is southern near L.A. and about 30 minutes to Disneyland kinda close to beaches, but a lot closer to Utah.... no scholarship :( but, we want to end up in the west so..... California here we come!
Right now I'm actually supposed to be packing our apartment (which by the way has WAY too much stuff!) but I'm procrastinating. Hayden is in his week-before-finals mode which means up at 6:00 (per usual) but then no dinner breaks, just study until about 8, come home to help with bed time and study again at 9:00. Needless to say the packing is up to me..... Have I ever mentioned I'm not a fan of packing? Did you know Hayden is an amazing packer? And remember now, there are two sweet angels running around and through my organized stacks, jumping in and out of boxes, and going willy nilly with gobs of tape... Yup packing is a little piece of heaven for them.... not so much for me.. ;) But regardless in 9 days we'll load our mountains of things into a giant truck and take it off to be stored for 2 months while we avoid all books and mentions of studying and just play with family :) Then we load it all back into a giant truck and hop over to California.
So a little of here and there and all over :) Now I have to put in a few of the things that Hallie has been saying with her ever growing sweetness, curiosity and vocabulary (this is the this and that portion of the post ;) )
Hallie - Mommy if you pray in a forest does Heavenly Father and Jesus show up?
On a different day
H - Mommy Heavenly Father and Jesus gave the people manna (pronounced monna-believe me I was corrected)
Me -Yes they did.
H- Cus the people were in the mountains. And we were pretending the bread was manna. (talking about sunbeams)
Me - Oh :)
H- Mommy how did Heavenly Father and Jesus get the manna to the people?
Me - ?...Uh, the priesthood.
H - like was it magical?
Me - No, it's not magic. It's the priesthood, it's God's power.
H -Did they send it to them?
Me - (phew) Yes
H- like in a package?
Me-.......
And for a classic.....
Preface- we are very open about bodily functions and body parts.....Both of these we heard her saying in the bathroom by herself.
H - Uh oh! Where's my bagina? Oh there it is, it's still there.
H - WOW! That poop was like a zerbit poop! (loud noise..lol)
Sorry if that was too much for ya, it makes me laugh and then you can see all the adorable and silly sides to my little chatter box :)

Happy Birthday Leilah!!!
I can hardly believe that our little Leilah is already one year old!! Looking over the past year and all of the changes she has had and how she has grown it does seem almost possible....but still! ONE YEAR!
We started the fun with going to a splash pad! She LOVES water! Baths, pools, and splashing are some of her favorite things so of course we had to all suit up and head over to do some splashing!

Then we headed home and spent a couple of minutes in our pool before lunch and naps :) during naps I did the finishing touches to getting our dinner, desserts, and decorations ready for the party that evening. I tried to do as many homemade decorations as possible and ended up having a lot of fun with it :)

Closer shot...(sorry, I just loved making this dessert table!)

Leilah's hat

After naps we took Leilah's one year pictures in her new adorable outfit! Thanks to a fabulous birthday gift (thanks so much Cherie!) and shopping trip on a sale day (hooray for treasure tuesday!) we got 2 outfits that I just couldn't pass up!

love this face!
I just love these! Can't they make them in my size?!
We had Sam, Alice, Jake, Jim, and Lorrelle over and later Sammy and Katie came over! It was SO fun to have family there to help celebrate Leilah's big day! I don't think I've seen a happier one year old! She adored everyone and every present was met with sweet little "ooo's" and "aaahhh's." One of the best parts was when she dug into her cake...lol She literally dug in and just kept going! What can I say she loves a mess!!

The finished (or rather after I finally took it from her...) product...ta da!

Throughout the day I couldn't help but think back to one year ago...in the hospital seeing this sweet angel's first moments of life. The spirit definitely touched my heart and filled it with joy, love and peace that this little girl was meant for our family. I love my little Leilah with all of my heart and I couldn't be more grateful to the amazing young woman who made the selfless choice of love to place her in our home and hearts. We love her and have so much respect for her. There isn't a greater blessing I could have received than to be a mother! I feel truly honored to care for these sweet little angels!
